Town of Jarratt, Virginia: Official Results!

As of today, Monday, December 2nd, 2024, the Commonwealth of Virginia has officiated all election results - including those for the Town of Jarratt, Virginia.  These are the results:

Mayor-elect, Brandon Michael Rawlings (previously on Council): 208 votes (of 332)

Councilpersons-elect:

  •     Anne F. Brown (incumbent): 188 votes
  •     Gregory Adam Byers (incumbent): 183 votes
  •     Ronnie M. Pearce, Sr.: 180 votes
  •     Dana Y. Kinsley (incumbent): 167 votes
  •     Ruth S. O'Berry (incumbent): 163 votes
  •     Y. Omar Smith (incumbent): 152 votes

We have already heard from some people that wished they had known more about the candidates before they voted and/or wished they had waited until election day to vote rather than vote early.  This happens every single election year since early voting was initiated, yet people all too quickly forget that anything can happen between September and November.

The Town of Jarratt, Virginia 2025-2027 session basically started in January 2024, from what I have heard, but it is now "official" and will begin on January 1st.  Good luck, Jarratt residents!

Town of Jarratt - Post Election STILL Unofficial

The title should tell you all you need to know.

If it doesn't, here are the overall results - as well as the fact that said results are still marked as "unofficial" - with links to the exact information as given below.

Town of Jarratt, VA: The Results.....

Tonight's numbers are not final, and tomorrow there will be a canvas done for any and all local elections - including Jarratt, Virginia.

Please remember that Jarratt is in both Sussex AND Greensville county.  Due to the move to November elections [a forced measure by the Commonwealth], the numbers granted by each county must be added after canvas tomorrow, Wednesday, November 6th, for the official count.

Various television channels and websites will keep you up-to-date with most elections - I will be following the State Election Results, mainly, and the Virginia Department of Elections will post the unofficial numbers as usual.

Feel free to comment if you have any thoughts to share - even if it is just to scream frustrations.

We all have them.

Election Reminder!

Exercise your right to vote, and make every effort to have your voice heard on Tuesday, November 5th, 2024!  I cannot express how much LOCAL elections impact everything we do on a daily basis: From taxes and utilities, to government spending of said tax monies and how they are best used to enrich the community - the elected officials for your LOCAL government affect your daily life far more than any other.

Beyond the persons that will be on the printed ballot you will be given to fill out, in reference to the Jarratt Town election?  The words "write-in candidates" have been spotted online.  One specific post on Facebook has either been altered or deleted, but still shows up on Google search - it states "We have a ballot full of candidates and prospective write in campaigns to make this election year exciting!" (Re: Town of Jarratt, Open Access; obtained using Google search keywords: "Jarratt VA election write-in 2024 Facebook.")

Curiosity bit me, and I asked around - I was granted with two names:

Town of Jarratt, Virginia - Write-In Candidates

There have been a lot of questions lately as to who is on the 2024 Town of Jarratt election ballot, as well as a lot of confusion as to who people should vote for if six (6) seats need to be filled and there aren't enough people they're willing to vote for to fill those seats.

(A reminder: If you haven't already, please read Election Ballot How-To's!)

There's a quick solution to that:

Write-ins.

I said quick, not smart.  If you want to place a write-in candidate on your ballot, you need to be very strategic with who you choose, why you decided to choose them, and then have enough people on your side to agree with you - who will also place said write-in on their ballot.

You need enough people behind you and your write-in candidate(s) to make it work.

Town of Jarratt, Virginia - 2024 Candidates and Past Elections

Because someone asked, we decided to provide the overall results from previous election years - not directly in print (it would take WAY too long to go through every individual notion each year) but with links to online resources.  If you are interested in persons that are on the 2024 election ballot, there are dots ⏺ (currently in office) and squares 🟦 (previously in office) beside each person listed from election results wherein said candidates ran for office.  Blank squares ▢ are for those who have not previously run for any office in the Town of Jarratt, Virginia, in the previous years documented.
